Technical AI Safety AI Governance Digital Minds

I am Vaishnavi Singh, an undergraduate researcher at Singapore Management University (ranked #20 globally for AI, CSRankings). I am enrolled in the BSc Computing and Law programme with a double major in Political Science. I will graduate at the end of 2026.

I am drawn to problems that resist simple solutions and require reasoning across multiple frameworks simultaneously. I pursue three interconnected research paths:

Technical AI Safety
Mechanistic interpretability · evaluation science · persona research
AI Governance
International coordination · safety by design · verification requirements · liability frameworks · mens rea in automated systems
Digital Minds
Philosophy of mind · normative socio-technical systems · cognitive science · empirical AI moral status research
Giving What We Can

The 10% Pledge

I have signed the Giving What We Can pledge to give at least 10% of my income to the most effective charities I can find. I am a student right now, so the numbers are small. I want to commit to this before life gets complicated and it becomes easier to keep putting it off.

I came across the idea through people in the EA community, and Natalie Cargill's TED talk made it click for me. Worth a watch if you are curious.
